Just a reminder…

Hi students and parents,

Just a reminder that lesson fees are due for the following month by the last lesson of each month.

This ensures your lesson time is locked in for the following month and makes me not have to chase you up with an extra fee for late payment!

Fun Times

Here’s a quick video of the May Day celebrations earlier this year that I forgot to post earlier. These are two of my adult students and myself playing Drowsy Maggie.

Learning an instrument can be fun and the proof is in the punch! 🙂

If you’re interested in being able to play socially like us here, contact me.

Summer is almost over…

… and I’ll be back to share my love of music with you very soon!

I am taking on new students, so if you are thinking of learning an instrument yourself or wishing your child could do so, please fill out the contact form and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

If you’re an adult who is wanting to learn music and are trying to summon the courage to contact me,  break through that fear barrier! I have a lot of adult students who are pursuing music later in life, so take the leap and just ask me about my available sessions and price. Plus, I also offer a string ensemble made up entirely of my adult students. It’s super fun, and you’ll be playing with us in no time!

Here’s a quick checklist for returning students:

  1. Email me to let me know that you are returning and the day and time.
  2. If you didn’t sort out payment with me before the holidays, please bring it with you on the first lesson back.
  3. Have you been practising?
    No?
I know it’s the summer, but try and start with ten minutes a day so you’re not too rusty.  You only have to do a little bit!
  4. Get excited to start playing again! Pick out a song you want to learn that you’ve heard and we’ll work out how to play it together.

Lessons start back the week of July 31.
I am so looking forward to seeing you 🙂

Music Can Make You More Creative!

I came across this article, recently, and thought it was worth sharing. :

Here’s Proof That Music Can Do More Than Just Make You Feel Good

“Levitin explained that the field of neuroscience has identified two primary modes of brain operation: Either you’re paying attention to something very closely and you’re deeply engaged in a task, or you’re in “mind-wandering mode,” which involves daydreaming and flitting from thought to thought. As Levitin put it, “It’s a flood of different thoughts that feel unconnected and loose.”

“It’s in this mode where almost all of our creativity happens, and where we’re able to come up with innovative solutions to problems.”

Of course it does! 🙂

Happy Holidays!

Just wanted to wish all of my students and their families everyone a very happy holiday season.

It has been a pleasure teaching you this year. It’s so encouraging to see you learn and grow as a musician. I hope you play some of the festive songs we’ve been working on for the past month for your families: I am sure they’ll love it!

Happy holidays and I will see you in the new year!

Upcoming Gig: Saturday, August 27, 2016

The Belinda Salvidge Minstrels, a band I formed with Jon Catalona and Scott Donaldson, will be livening things up outside the Berkeley Hat Company this weekend, playing lively jigs and reels. Adding to the merriment will be Wind Bubble Riders — a fun activity for kids of all ages.

It’s an early gig (and it’s also free), so bring the family and down to Telegraph Avenue to enjoy some great music and maybe even find yourself a stylish hat!

We’ll be playing some toe-tapping tunes, so we hope you can stop by and enjoy it.
